I did not find the hike difficult, but future hikers should know the pathway is uneven, there are many stairs and one small tunnel about 250ft long (for those claustrophobic). It's important that people wear proper foot gear, not sandals and take a full bottle of water. The view is beautiful, and the hike can be completed in 25-40 mins to the top, depending on how many stops you take for photos.”

“The tour guide was right on time for an early morning pickup to head to Diamond Head. This was a great hike. I liked the variety of non paved trails, a tunnel and stairs to a magnificent view of the island and crater. The Diamond Head area provided restrooms, water fill up stations, signage for photo ops and plenty of places to sit and cool off in the shade. I wouldn't advise booking the Makapuu Lighthouse right after Diamond Head though. Although Makapuu provided a nice paved trail it was steep and offered no shade at all. “Great hike with an awesome view. Malasadas were delicious. Hike was doable for all ages and fitness levels. Plenty of time to go at your own pace if you wanted to. If you want a challenge do the stairway on the way up, it’s pretty cool, and go down the scenic/easier side for a good view. Definitely worth doing the sunrise option. It still had good light starting at 6am. And it’s much cooler. And we were back at our hotel by 8am and had the rest of the day to explore.”
